URL Rewrite Issue when directing to another page with GET

So I figure this is an easy fix and I'm just being dumb, but this is my first time working with URL Rewrites so.

My current issue is that, when my 'submit' page redirects back to the index page, it should be displaying a notification which was fine before the URL Rewrite, but now It doesn't display anything.

php_flag magic_quotes 1
php_flag magic_quotes_gpc 1
php_value mbstring.http_input auto
php_value session.gc_maxlifetime 43200

ErrorDocument 404 /404.php

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -f
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)$ /$1.php [L,QSA]

#RewriteRule ^tmpls(.*)$ http://bootstrap-calendar.eivissapp.com/tmpls$1 [L,QSA]

RewriteRule ^new/msg new-msg.php [L,QSA]

The page it redirects to (just the GET code)

if (isset($_GET['success'])) {
   $success = $_GET['true'];
   $_SESSION['message'] = '<div class="alert alert-success"><span>Done!</span></div>';
   header("Location: /messages");

and the code I use to redirect it..

header("Location: /messages?success=true");
